(CWA image)3221TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A magnitude 4.5 earthquake occurred in southwest Taiwan at 4:22 p.m. on Monday, followed four minutes later by a magnitude 4.6 quake, according to the Central Weather Administration.The epicenter of the first earthquake was 41.1 km northeast of Tainan City Hall at a depth of 7 km, the CWA said. Taiwan uses an intensity scale of 1 to 7 to measure how strongly a quake is felt at a specific location. The quake registered an intensity level of 4 in Tainan and Chiayi County.A level 3 was recorded in Chiayi. A level 2 was reported in Kaohsiung, Yunlin County, and Changhua County.An intensity level of 1 was measured in Nantou County, Taitung County, Hualien County, Pingtung County, and Taichung. A level 1 was reported in Taitung County, Nantou County, Pingtung County, Hualien County, and Penghu County.
