My descent is from WILLIAM MARION GREEN B. 1802 in SC and CELIA DILLARD B.1812 in SC. In attempts to prove earlier parentage/siblings of both, have extensive information on the Dillards, but no verified data on earlier Greens. WILLIAM MARION GREEN shows in 1880 census that both his parents were born in Virginia. There were many GREENS in SPARTANBURG CO., SC and surrounding areas in the earlier 1800s and have tried to trace back and connect my WMG to them with no success. There are many clues pointing toward the TOLLESON relationship, as well as the BRIANTS, REIDS,KIRBYS, BURGESS and others. For example,JUDITH (widow of Thomas Reid) was shown 1850 census Spartanburg as "Juda" being in the household of Berry Green, along with her daughter, Sara. My ancestors moved to Pontotoc County, MS in 1858 and had a son called "Little Berry", but whose name appears to have been Benjamin Winsberry Green.Other children of William Marion and Celia (Lucelia) Dillard Green were named JAMES CALLOWAY, JOSEPH, JOSHUA, WILLIAM SMITH, SARAH, SUSAN CATHERINE, MATILDA, ELIZABETH and MARGARET ANN. The son, JOSHUA, married Rhoda Caroline KIRBY, daughter of James T. Kirby of UNION CO., SC. Joshua and his young wife were censused in the Spartanburg 1850 in the household of WM/CDGreen; Joshua had died before the move to MS and Rhoda Caroline remarried to James Pinckney Bryant (Briant), son of William Tolleson and Lucinda Kirby Bryant. In 1867, Caroline and James Pinckney Bryant also moved to NE MS. My main interest is in determining the birth family of WILLIAM MARION GREEN.After working with the other families named here for years, feel that they too belong to me, so would welcome information on them also (many of them tie into my Dillards).
