Big changes are coming to the morning team at Nexstar’s WWLP, Springfield’s NBC affiliate, as the station bids farewell to two familiar faces while welcoming new ones. Both morning anchors, Taylor Knight and Rich Tettemer, are stepping away from their roles, marking the end of an era and the start of a fresh chapter.Taylor Knight, who has been a staple of the WWLP morning newscast for nearly seven years, announced her departure to move closer to family. Knight joined the station in 2018 as a multimedia journalist before becoming a morning anchor. Prior to her time at WWLP, she worked as a reporter for FiOS1 News in New Jersey.Rich Tettemer, a long-time anchor and newsroom veteran, is retiring after an incredible 37 years with WWLP-22News. Tettemer first joined the station in 1988, on Patriot’s Day, coinciding with the Boston Marathon and a Red Sox morning game. His broadcasting career began in 1984 as a videotape editor at WFLA in Tampa, Florida. He later served as a weekend sports anchor at KODE in Joplin, Missouri, before finding his permanent home at WWLP. After 18 years as the station’s sports anchor, Tettemer transitioned to the morning anchor desk in 2006, solidifying his place as a trusted voice in local news.The station has already announced replacements for both anchors. Kaelee Collins, who has been with WWLP since 2018, will step in for Knight starting Thursday, April 24. Collins began her time at the station as the weekday morning reporter and was promoted to morning anchor in 2019.
