She was born on July 27, 1935, to Noel Kahler and Elma Wilson Kahler in Long Lane, MO. Our Mother grew up on a farm in Long Lane, MO, roaming the countryside on horseback. There was a 12-year age difference between she and her sister so needless to say, Miss June did pretty much what she wanted! The family moved to California in 1946 and lived there for 2 years, before returning home to Long Lane. She went to Benton Branch, a one-room schoolhouse for her elementary education then Buffalo High School and Lebanon School of Cosmetology. In high school she dropped the name Ella, a name she never liked, and started using June. She also started dating JR Brownfield. She and JR married in September 1952 and moved to New Jersey. After a couple of years, they returned home to Long Lane, MO.In the late 60's, June opened a beauty shop on the Buffalo Square, "Primp N Place". She worked there until an accident prevented her from working again. She was the trailblazer introducing men into a beauty shop for haircuts and especially perms, which were all the rage for a while.June loved her children & friends fiercely, loved life and you always knew where you stood with her! She loved having a nice yard, full of flowers, until she was no longer able to take care of them and was an active member in her church, the Bible Baptist Church. We remember, as children, we were not allowed to do anything on a Sunday if we didn't go to church first!June was preceded in death by her parents, Noel & Elma Kahler, husbands, JR Brownfield and Lawrence Garrett, Granddaughter Joni Brownfield, Great Granddaughter Reagan Brownfield, Sister Cecil Cheek, Nephew Joe Cuoco and a brother she never met, Little Wayne Kahler. She leaves in her passing her 5 children: Anita & Scott Sunday of Queen Creek, AZ, Jack Brownfield of Lees Summit, MO, Bobbi Fee of St Louis, MO, Bonnie & Dennis Bandel of Louisburg, MO and Tim & Sherry Brownfield of Buffalo. Grandchildren Jared, Amy, Josh, Whitney, Lauren, Charlie, Mike, Jamie, Jeremy, Nathan, Derek and Logan, along with 19 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grands.Funeral services are scheduled for 2: 00 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home, Buffalo.
