Around the time I hit my growth spurt (13-14 y/o), my already high metabolism went absolutely nuts. The record when I counted, was 14 plates of food at a buffet (fairly loaded plates at that. Not just 2-3 things per plate).I think it was a part of the reason my dad started making it a Sunday tradition to hit a different buffet every week (so he could just pay a flat price for me to shovel wheelbarrows full of food down my gullet).Standard practice was to invite relatives or family friends along. We’d just hang out and socialize and eat over 2-3 hours, after playing tennis. One particular afternoon, my aunt goes, “My god, how many plates of food have you had?”.I said, “Uhhh… this is #12”.She looks at me and goes, “Where does all that food GO?”, to which I quipped, “Hollow leg. Storing it for later”.Knowing that our family traveled overseas often, she turned to my mom and asked, “Have you had him checked for worms?”.My mom just laughed and replied, “We actually wondered about that and took him to the family doc. The doc checked him out and laughed. Said, “He’s fine. He’s always had a high metabolism, and now between the growth spurt, all the cycling and sports and working out he does, it’s just his metabolism. He just burns a LOT of calories”.After my aunt asked all that, I went back for two more plates of desserts.Up until my 40s, I was so used to eating ridiculous quantities of food in one sitting, that like many competitive eaters, my stomach was used to being stretched to contain it. I could still eat two appetizers, two entrees, and two desserts in one sitting, and sometimes even triple up. I used to go to different restaurants for lunch with another coworker. Between the two of us, we’d order enough food for 3-4 normal people, and eat it all. After 3 months, the coworker went, “Dude, I can’t do this anymore. None of my clothes fit. You can eat like that, and you’re still the same size, while I’ve been getting even fatter”.After years of NOT eating huge quantities in one sitting, my stomach has shrunk back down to a more normal size, and I can’t handle eating those ridiculous quantities in one sitting anymore.*** probably also pertinent to note that I joined my first commercial gym at about 13-14, because I wanted to gain more muscle. Was always a lean/skinny kid. That gym was where I first learned about measuring and tracking bodyfat percentage using skinfold calipers. I’ve been tracking my bodyfat for decades now, and the fattest I’ve ever allows myself to get, was 18.9%. The leanest was when I actively competed in Muay Thai and Sanda, where I maintained my bodyfat between 6-7% year round. For the past decade, I’ve tried to keep my bodyfat percentage between 10-15%. Trying to cut to under 10% this Summer., Fogo has gone down while their prices have gone up. I'd say Texas de Brazil and Chama Gaucha are the top, Fogo, then everyone else. Chama Gaucha is most of Fogo's old management and their old vendors before they were purchased and went public. Texas de Brazil has some different cold items/salad bar, but both are nearly identical otherwise. Really between the two, it's just which one is closer , [quote=shauben2007;10899510]I've been to Chama Gaucha and loved it, how does the new Fogo in Rivercenter Mall compare? -Steve [/quot LoveChama.
