The marlin and sailfish off Baja's East Cape typically draw all of the attention, but the surf fishing is truly something special., At the CBX bridge entrance on the US side, Volaris airlines has a check in right there as you walk in. Nobody checks your rod tube. You just surrender it with your checked bag and you are on your way. Later in the airport , you walk throgh customs with your carry on stuff. There you are checked by customs., TJ to La Paz on Volaris. Super easy and cheap if you are not bringing a ton of gear. Definitely BajaRancheros. Best captains hands down. I know u can rent a car, but was seeing if any of the transportation services do that trip?, We flew Volaris out of TJ. We had a 8-1/2' tube and 6-fully loaded reels on our checked baggage. Paid an extra Sport fee for the rod tube $46 I think. No issues. You can not carry on loaded reels. All I can say is make sure you buy insurance! One year I had them break 5 rods only to find out they covered NOTHING because I didn't have insurance., .
