Local newspapers include The Alpine Echo and The Alpine Sun and a few others that lasted only briefly., The Alpine Historical Society, located in the mountain community of Alpine, California, approximately twenty miles east of San Diego, is dedicated to preserving the history of our community. The goal of the Society is to develop a Heritage Park for Alpine which will include three historic buildings: the Dr. Sophronia Nichols House, built in , Metates along the streambeds, rock alignments and stone chips that remind us of Alpine’s important cultural history.
