The Armed Forces Retirement Home (AFRH) is an independent Agency in the Executive branch of the U.S. Government. The AFRH provides residences and related services for certain retired and former members of the U.S. Armed Forces ( 24 US Code 10, Subchapter 411 )., The Armed Forces Retirement Home (AFRH) – which offers affordable independent living to eligible veterans in its Washington, D.C., and Gulfport, Miss. locations, is now accepting applications for residency in 2020!, As residents age, "Independent Living Plus," "Assisted Living", "Memory Support" and "Long Term Custodial Care" are available in-house when necessary. Career military personnel have priority., In FY2023, AFRH reported having a total of 665 residents. Of those, 536 residents (81%) required only domiciliary care (i.e., independent senior living), while 129 residents (19%) required at least part-time nursing home care. At maximum capacity, the AFRH can accommodate at least 1,100 residents. ADL., All potential residents – including spouses – must be capable of independent living upon admission, have acceptable insurance coverage, meet legal requirements, and be approved by the AFRH medical and admissions review boards to be accepted as a resident of the Armed Forces Retirement Home., Beneficiary spouses will also pay fees based on a percentage of their individual income according to the table above, but with a minimum fee of $500 per month for independent living (IL, ILP) and $2,000 per month for advanced levels of care (AL, MS, LTC)..
