They actually have it in their contract of carriage that says they take no responsibility for schedule changes. You can try calling back again and talking to another agent who might be more sympathetic to your plight, try calling their customer service line, or if its "really" that important, pay the fee and enjoy thanksgiving. Try continental or United as, to me, they are flexible when it comes to schedule changes and have always made changes with no additional charge. Reservations deceiving advertising & flight credit issue American Airlines Complaints, I'm an Executive Platinum (highest tier) with American Airlines. I recently purchased a RT ticket from DFW to BWI, departing 11/04/14. While booking my December travel today, I noticed the fare I paid for the DFW to BWI trip was significantly less expensive (20% reduction). I called the Executive Platinum desk to inquiry about a refund. They told me they did have a low fare guarantee but in , When I booked my flight with American Airlines I notified customer service I would need special accommodations on both my flight out and and on the return leg of my flight.
