Thinking my vinyl needledropping days were over, I recently sold off a vintage Fisher tube receiver and Microseki turntable. However, an extensive new project has come up which will require my re-acquiring some equipment. I happen to have access already to a B&O Beomaster 6500 receiver, and was wondering if there would be any particular benefit to also getting the Beogram 6500 turntable (other than ease of interfacing via the 7-pin DIN), or if other B&O turntables would represent a better bang-for-buck (or even turntables by other manufacturers). In particular, there currently is a Beogram 3300 turntable on Ebay that I might want to purchase., I have a Beogram 3000 that I bought back in '86. (The 3000 is identical to the 3300 with the exception of some cosmetic differences.) It's one of several turntables that I use regularly, along with various other Thorens, Linns, ARs and even a Transcriptors Hydraulic Reference. The B&O has been in regular use now for 23 years., First up you mention linear tracking and the Beogram 3300 and this definitely comes under the category of decks that are nice to look at, easy to use and pleasant to listen to. There’s a huge range available, as the Beogram TX2, 3000, 3300, 3500, 4500, 5005, 5500, 6500, 7000, 8500 and 9500 are basically all the same thing..
