Muchas gracias!!!, aprovecho para agregar el link del diccionario a mis favoritos, pues parece ser una fuente muy buena de información para explicar términos inglés/inglés. Yo tengo dudas que cuando se trata de una "traducción jurada" de un documento legal se tiene que poner una traducción exacta (aunque no literal) de la frase o palabra, más que el equivalente, en este caso: Registro Civil, pero si me guiara por esa idea, entones se tendría que poner algo como: Registro de Estadísticas Vitales, lo cual no me suena muy bonito, pero a veces lo no-bonito hay que ponerlo.... esa es mi gran duda, si se usa el equivalente o la traducción., The State Bureau of Vital Statistics and Registration maintains birth, marriage, and death records from 1878 to the present. Creo que puedes traducirlo como "registro civil", sin problema. Diddy, Una vez mas, me encuentro traduciendo una apostilla de acta de nacimiento donde aparece el termino: "Bureau of Vital Statistics". Otras veces lo he traducido como "Oficina del Registro Civil", ya que en México ese es el nombre oficial de la dependencia encargada de los registros de nacimiento, matrimonio y defunción..
