I get coverage from Nags Head to Corolla. There may be some areas that are spotty or weak. On Hatteras, I get cell phone service in each of the towns, but no coverage between the towns. I even get cell phone service on Ocracoke.Now Internet service on my smart phone is a different story. I do not get any internet service once I am on Hatteras and Ocracoke unless I can connect to wifi. This is ok with me as the service is cheaper and I am on vacation so who needs to check email . Once I hit south Nags Head, the emails start coming through. No issues when I travel....New York, LA, Nashville, Philly, St Louis. Run from them. Then I switched to US Cellular and hated it. Being on the beach road was full of holes and if you were on a beach you had no service. I went with Verizon and am very happy now. I would stick with Verizon. Last year, we had no issues. Our home in Indy was on the market, and I received several texts from our agent about showings, received a couple of calls from Alligator River, and several texts from our neighbors. Maybe texting goes through better than actual calls... not sure. I made a few calls confirming rsvp's and such, too. Our house is in Frisco.VoIP is great as long as you have good internet connections. If you lose internet you lose VoIP no matter what service it is since it all goes over the internet. I can post pics to here right from the beaches using the phone signal without WIFI. Battery life is normal.South of the Bonner the phones go to "extended" network. Signal is weak, texts always work, phone calls mostly work, but posting pics to here doesn't work unless it picks up WIFI. That being said, they are in the process of upgrading their coverage.
