Have an iPod Touch7 with 250GB that I need to pull a lot of photographs from with my PC to free some space.Ages ago, I used to be able to do this with the File Explorer window in Windows by opening my device's DCIM folder and moving/copying my photos, only now it doesn't work. I found some videos ( and ) that explain you must wait hours for it to show up (especially if you have a lot), but no matter how many hours (4-8+) I wait, my DCIM folder never shows up.I tested to make sure it's not just my computer, updated everything, tried again with several different USB cords and ports, and still nothing. I tested with another iPod Touch 6thGen with 16BG, which pulls up it's DCIM folder in 2seconds just fine. Finally, I attempted to export my photos a different way entirely using another program - iMazing, and learned that the key compatibility difference between both iPod's photos is that the 7thGen (one that's DCIM never shows up,) has photos that are all HEIC files, whereas the 6thGen (one that will pull up) contains only JPEGs.I seem to remember changing a setting for my photo format to something that would save data once upon a time, but don't recall what the setting was named. As of now, I have been using iMazing as a work-around, but would it be wise to finish transferring my photos before I attempt to reset the setting (it's nearly maxed out in storage right now,) to make it take JPEGS only again if it will take up more storage to return to that? How can you change the photos back to JPEG in the iPod itself? As would doing so alter previous photos still on the device or only affect new ones taken going forward? As a goal, I'd like to get back to being able to use the DCIM method to be able to access my photos from any computer anywhere at any time I want. I am not super partial to utilizing iCloud as a work-around. I will say though, to anyone else having this problem, that iMazing is a very competent work-around tool that I am grateful to have, but be aware that you have only 50 free photos to export (which won't delete anything from your device,) before they request you purchase a membership. Just for kicks, does anyone have any other recommendations to pull the HEIC photographs off of an iOS device (until I can reduce the full storage enough via iMazing) to fix the setting back to take JPEGs? , Open DCIM folder . Browse and scroll through the photos. Select the photos you want, use the Control key + mouse click to select photos. Click Copy command under Home tab or press Control key + C. Go to your Pictures folder then click Paste, you can also create a folder then paste them there. Importing using the Photos App, I am not able to find the DCIM folder on my Windows 10. I've followed several online suggestions and it's still not on my PC. What usually happens is that when I hook up my camera to download photos, I can easily find the DCIM folder. Then I'll find the new photos there. Why is my camera not being recognized?.
