This license allows the operation of a non-degree private school in New York state. Private schools are all other schools, including for-profit schools that provide instruction in and/or preparation for high school equivalency examinations to out-of-school youth or adults.Before prospective school owners decide to pursue school licensure, they should be certain that the owner and the institution comply with all of the requirements set forth in Education Law and Commissioner's Regulations. The Bureau of Proprietary School Supervision (BPSS), within the Office of Adult Career and Continuing Education Services (ACCES) of the State Education Department, has simplified the licensing process so that all institutions that can satisfy the required standards can achieve licensure or registration. If your institution is seeking licensure, read the applicable laws and regulations and policy guidelines. Follow the steps in the "Summary of Licensing Steps" in working with BPSS to secure the appropriate licensesTo open additional schools, you must complete your first renewal as a private career school.
